“cultural experience” in MANNAM’s Korean class!

Today, the day of “cultural experience"

in MANNAM’s Korean class!!

I always thought how to introduce Korea to foreigners who love Korea.
Finally I grabed a chance through “Dongrae Eupseong historical festival”!

The weather was good! :)
10:30A.M. We met at Dongrae station, took taxies and started to go to
Dongrae Eupseong for field experience!

We got a fancy hat at the entrance and took the group photo
in front of the tiger and cow, then our tour began.
Elizabeth contiuously took pictures for getting interesting views.

Next, we saw traditional tightrope performance!
Professional woman ran and sat on the high rope.
I was afraid that she fell down from the rope when she jumped,
but it was perfect and fantastic performance!

Everyone cried, “Amazing"

Second course was traditional Hanbok experience! (it is very popular)
My foreigner friends was like korean when they put on bright and colorful Hanbok

Next of the Hanbok experience center , there was prison experience center

We picked up sword and spear,
was beaten a stick,
leg-screw punishment,
and experienced prison

It was unique experience.

Meanwhile, in the grand hall, Sand art was progressed, so we moved in quickly
Time was already 2:00 P.M, after we saw the beautiful sand painting.

Finally we headed to the food marketplace and ate many Korea food : chicken skewers, acorn, Korea pancake, beef soup, dumplings, sweet rice drink, dongdongju, tteokbokyi, suyuk, etc.

4:00P.M.
Our short but special experience ended
Korean class students said “Thanks for helping us to experience Korea.
We were happy to help them, and also we got special memories.
I wish I could beautiful memories for Korea again through MANNAM

[MANNAM Korean Class] Busan South Korean 1A(Beginner) Class

we learned about combined vowels (얘, 예, 위, 와, 워) and  doubled consonants (ㄲ,ㄸ,ㅃ,ㅆ,ㅉ).
these are a little  tricky sounds  for foreigners to pronounce.
But Elan & Joanna made themselves  free and easy.
As they studied 한글(korean alphabet) steadily.

After finishing 1st class we had several games  to make vocabularies enhance.
let me introduce one of them.
1. students should  circle words what the teacher say.

2. these vocabs don't have right spellings. Student have to change words into correct spellings.

3. The winner will be a person who corrects words as many as possible.

A winner was Elan.
The goddess of Fortune smiled at him this time.
A prize was 연양갱 which  is a red-bean jelly.
It tasted sweet.

[MANNAM Koean Class] Activity to 범어사 Temple(Beom-eo-sa)

The Mannam Korean class outdoor activity to 범어사 was really a perfect day. Starting with the beautiful weather, all of the class teacher, manager and the students could enjoy the view.

And the most unique experience I felt was we could be one. As the Mannam slogan is "when light meets light there is victory" I could feel the slogan was applying to all of us. As finishing our lunch we washed our dishes personally which was a good experience and by the 범어사 guide's explanation we could understand how 범어사 was established and what kind of tradition it had.

Taking a picture all together the 범어사 adventure ended and it was a meaningful day to me. I hope not only me but also all the people enjoyed the outdoor activity. I hope there will be a more meaningful outdoor activity next time.

[MANNMA Korean Class] Dongrae Farjeon(Korean-style Fried Seafood & Vegetable Pancake)

Busan Do Eat!

Local dishes reflect the lifestyle and habits of people living in villages, and the taste of dishes peculiar to certain villages has the full flavor of natural ingredients.
Therefore, we have made sustained efforts to create new cuisine featuring local foods unique to Busan.

Dongrae Farjeon

Dough of wheat and rice flour is mixed with chives and various kinds of seafood (squid, oysters, mussels, clams, etc), and the mixture is then fried on a frying pan. This dish has been a speciality of Dongrae Market since the ond days, popular with market traders and customers alike.

MANNAM Korean class members went to 뜰에장 to experince the Korean traditional cooking.
뜰에장 is a famous as a korean traditional experince.
The place is near Mandock station in Busan. Once you get off the subway, you will have to take a local bus. The number 8 bus is probably the quickest and cheapest way.
The experience time was about 2 hours. We learned cooking for around 1hour and then they gave rice and some side dishes. So, we really stuffed with pajeon and rice.
They had their first making of Korean food. They look like really happy to learning how to cook Korean food.

The food was good and we loved the cooking. Altogether it was a great time.
