MANNAM Chairman, Man Hee Lee peace advocate ; He was doing to achieve World Peace

I am an young man in the twenties who has been interested following chairman Man Hee Lee.
Frankly, at the first time I didn't have a good view what chairman Man Hee Lee was doing.
Because there wasn't much good news about him and I couldn't understand what he was doing.
I agree that the whole world needs world peace necessarily. However comparing with other volunteer associations, peace organizations, and other religion groups, I couldn't agree what kind of difference he was doing to achieve world peace.
That opinion I had, which was misunderstood was broken in the period starting 2012 September.
At 2012 September 16th, I received an "World Peace Festival" invitation from chairman Man Hee Lee and participated the festival.
At the festival, I could see such an amazing view that is not able to express my feeling with words.
Participating the "World Peace Festival", chairman Man Hee Lee introduced that we have the material to achieve World Peace. And now I'm thinking how this is really happening.
After that period, my suspicion was all gone and I started to believe his doings.

First of all, what chairman Man Hee Lee is doing is not like what NGO is doing as an ordinary way to achieve world peace, but he gives us strong impression making the world new.
For example, not only the World Peace Festival opened at September 16th but also the "World Peace Walk" which was opened at this year of May was really amazing and the size was so big which I have never seen. Also I could see the people were really passionate desiring world peace.
Secondly, I was really impressive with his speech and what he is thinking.
Man Hee Lee advocate emphasized we should gather our mind to obtain world peace.
As a matter of fact, most young man accepts this as a dream.
Because the whole world lives really hard, most people put there mind first on their jobs or economical life.
And I'm sure that they want to do many things during their life.
This was not an exception on me also.
However, though  Man Hee Lee peace leader is 84 years old, he has a strong passionate mind to achieve world peace than any other young man not thinking as a dream but to make it true in our reality.
I feel sad that many young man is losing their dreams and hope and even giving up their passionate.
However Man Hee Lee peace leader is different.
Comparing with senior citizens, he is like a pure child showing his dream and hope to achieve world peace. Seeing his path, I was really ashamed to myself what I have thought before.
Let's listen to his words all together.
Also let's burn our pure passionate mind together.
As an young man let's walk together to achieve world peace.
There still will be some people who is thinking world peace is unable to achieve thinking it as a dream.
But we are the ones who is able to achieve world peace not in our dreams but in reality. I hope we can listen to his words and work all together.

Declaration of Unification

This nation must be unified as it was before as an independent nation. Our forefathers who died for this country, and the Korean citizens of today never wished for this nation to be divided.  Who divided our nation and established the 38th parallel?
When the Japanese emperor surrendered after WWII, our country became independent, but the U.S. entered the South, the Russians entered the North, and Korea was basically ruled by the military. Korean citizens were still able to cross back and forth from North to South. Later, the government of the Republic of Korea was established in the South and a communist government was established in the North, and the 38th parallel divided the two. People were no longer allowed to travel back and forth between the two countries.

Is this what those who died for this country and declared independence in the March 1st (1919) movement wanted? Is this what we, the citizens commemorating Independence Day today, want? The Korean Peninsula was divided because of the North’s barbaric invasion of the South which led to a fratricidal, and bloody war. Even today, we are still pointing guns at people of our own race. How can this be the will of our forefathers and the Korean people today?
Thirty-three people, who represent the citizens of the Republic of Korea, love the Korean Peninsula, and pray for its peace and unification, declare the following:
First, just like East and West Germany, the leaders of South and North Korea must gather to discuss unification for the sake of this country and its citizens.
Second, if our leaders truly love this nation and its citizens, they will work to establish a unified nation the citizens wish for and a country where people live happily in abundance. How can a nation which is divided stand with confidence in this world? The leaders of South and North Korea must ensure that the Korean Peninsula will not be shamed.
Third, we must all lay down our weapons and allow our citizens to travel freely throughout the Korean Peninsula.
Fourth, there must be religious freedom because religion is faith regarding the spiritual world. Religion is a spiritual pursuit, and as such, knows no national boundaries. People of religion must unite through the Scriptures for a religious unification.
By putting these suggestions into action, we can truly achieve world peace.

                                              Acceptance                     Freedom
          Love                                                Harmony

How to make World Peace?

How do you feel about it?

Frankly speaking, I was not interested in  World Peace.
Then one day, one of my friends invited me to MANNAM Volunteer Association.
I knew that many Youth groups are passionate about world peace and they also worked hard for world peace.
So, I decided to work for world peace together.
And, I found that Man Hee Lee peace leader is working for world peace hardly.
He is a man worthy of our respect.
If we all muck in, we can get in better world.
We should listen to him and we ought to be able to manage it between us.

Memorial Day of 2009 Love of Taegeuk, (Korean Flag) and Love of Mugungwha, (Rose of Sharon) _MANNAM Volunteer Association

Love of Taegeuk, (Korean Flag) and Love of Mugungwha, (Rose of Sharon)
Let’s brighten this dark world by gathering people of light and bringing them together!

MANNAM Corporation, which focuses on culture and art, has joined the world's 54 volunteer organizations.
MANNAM Corporation mainly volunteered around Gangnam, Seoul, unnoticeably, but with a pure heart. In 2008, a bazaar was held for those in need at the Apgujung, Chungdam elementary school and ten thousand citizens, including local residents participated. Gangnam district office was surprised with the outcome and suggested holding another event together. So, on April 6th, Memorial Day of 2009, a public patriotic event was held which one hundred thousand people participated on Yeongdong main-street (blocking eight-lanes) in front of the Coex Mall and MANNAM Corporation became known as a light of the world.

From the spark of these events, MANNAM Corporation became a global volunteer organization by allying with 54 domestic and foreign volunteer organizations. The united volunteer organization is enthusiastically volunteering with many domestic and foreign regions.

MANNAM, the pride of Korea, will spread the culture of love by lighting up the darkness with the light of love.

The World’s best handprint Korean Flag
Entered in the Korean Genus book of record. The world’s largest handprint Korean Flag is kept preserved in the National Cemetery. Width 60m x Length 40m, a total of 17,337 people participated.

The world's largest Korean flag, made by handprints, was listed in the Korean Guinness Book on 2009, July 18th. From Children's Day (May 5th) when the Korean flag was simply a pure-white sheet, till the completion of the flag, it stayed on displayed at the Olympic Park Peace Plaza, where every country’s flags exist. This was a precious time of sharing for citizens of Korea to confirm their love of the Korean flag, without distinction of gender, age, or nationality. It was a moment in which Korea and the world could become one, by gathering people’s hearts and participating in the simple action of hand printing. Departed patriots would have felt proud by seeing the supersized Korean flag preserved in the national cemetery.

Replies from combatant nations for Mannam Corporation’s activities.
We would like to truly thank the Presidents and Ambassadors who have shown much interest and given support to MANNAM activities.
We received letters of thanks and gratitude from 21 different country’s veterans, who came to the 2009 ‘Love of Our Country’ public patriot MANNAM event.

The Korean War and the meaning of the UN participation

On June 25, Sunday 4:00am, 1950, the tragic Korean War began with gunfire and after 3 years and 1 month, the ceasefire negotiation ended, leaving an everlasting pain and many scars behind. With the precious sacrifice of the veterans, we rose up and made unimaginable progress and developments. Within 60 years, trying to leave the pain behind, Korea was able to flourish in the world by holding the 88 Olympics, 2002 World Cup, and the G-20 Seoul Summit.
Marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, MANNAM Corporation held this event in remembrance of the veteran’s sacrifices which made Korea truly what it is today.
By the Arrangement of Collective Security, ‘UN takes effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace' UN forces enter the Korean War to protect Korea's liberalization. The Korean War was the first war involving the UN forces in an effort to bring forth Peace and freedom to Korea. So this became not just Korea's war, but a war in which the world shared.
We will never forget the sacrifice and dedication of the UN forces which allowed Korea to exist today.
Remembrance of Representative War Veteran’s
-Army Infantry Number 8830186, Sergeant Man Hee Lee remembrance

Unforgettable fellow soldiers who shed their blood
To the unforgettable fellow soldiers who shed their blood and for the departed patriots, I pray for the souls to rest in peace.

I was on the front lines for the Korean Special Forces, from the beginning of the war till the ceasefire negotiation ended and the noise of gunfire, bombs, and fighter planes did not stop even for one second. The ground was covered with blood, the sky was filled with smoke, and fellow soldier’s corpses were stacked on top of each other, which made the ground, the heavens and hearts throb.
The tragedy of this fratricidal war made sons, fathers and brothers, point guns at each other. The streets at that time, existed with vast bloodshed, full of screaming infants, horrible stories, and nightmares that can't even be remembered.
Until the day of a Truce, only military uniforms covered in blood were seen as I went forward for my country and nation.
Today Korea would not be in existence if it were not for the sacrifice of the many different nation's four hundred and twenty thousand forces and participation of the 21 countries.
On this 60th Anniversary of the Korean War, we have to remember the sacrifice and dedication of the fellow soldiers and patriots. We have to remember it forever. Korea, the country they laid down their life to protect. Through Love, We have to preserve the light forever.

Intent of the 60th anniversary, 25th of June
Non-profit volunteer Association Mannam Corporation
Republic of Korea will always remember you.
Representative of MANNAM, Kim Nam-Hee
As the mother bird covers the baby bird with its wings so they won’t get wet from the rain…
You gave away your precious and unique youth to protect the Korean peninsula from the pouring rain of bomb shells. Doubtless the heavens would be impressed. You participated in things which someone had to do.
Veterans of the war! Now I know that you are like our parents of Korea who has given us birth. Tears flowed in my heart when I felt the hearts of the Father’s whom sacrificed everything for their children.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, we, as children of yours, set this place today to remember your sacrifice of blood once again and to tend to our parents with expression of filial piety. The Volunteer Association of MANNAM will work even harder, doing more volunteer works, and will be even more humble in this country that you protected. Your noble sacrifice for your country and today’s impressive meeting will be remembered forever in history. Thank you.

[MANNAM internationla] Do We Want the Two Koreas to Be United?

Koreas to iron out deal on S. Korean workers' rights at Kaesong talks

SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- South and North Korea will try to work out a deal aimed at enhancing the rights and safety of South Korean workers at their joint factory complex in the communist country in upcoming talks, a government source said Thursday.
Talks planned for Friday are expected to touch on issues that were not fully agreed upon during negotiations held earlier in the week. Marathon talks that ended early Wednesday yielded an opening date for the Kaesong Industrial Complex, effectively ending the five-month-long standoff.
The factory park located in the North Korean border city of Kaesong has been closed since early April after Pyongyang unilaterally pulled out all of its workers citing provocations from South Korea and heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The latest agreement also called for sub-committee panel talks to be held within the week to discuss issues that were not fully ironed out.

"Two sub-committee meetings touching on communications and travel, as well as rights governing people who are staying there for extended periods of time will likely be held," a unification ministry official who declined to be identified said. He did not elaborate on the details but hinted that there is a possibility that headway can be made on key issues that can lead to an agreement.
Seoul has said that in the event of a South Korean national being detained, he or she should have the right to legal counsel. This move can allow South Korean officials to be present when the offender is being questioned by North Korean authorities.
"In past talks, the North has not rejected such calls made by the South, and since they had time to examine the proposal, we expect some sort of reply," the official said.
This right is part of the "progressive development" process that Seoul seeks for the Kaesong factory zone, he added. Progressive development aims to lay a firm foundation for building trust and sustainable growth in cross-border relations.
Besides workers' rights, the two sides are likely to touch on technical details related to improving communications like permitting Internet access at Kaesong, as well as the use of incorporating radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to ease cross-border movement to and from the inter-Korean factory park.
The ministry already said that RFID and Internet access issues can be resolved within the year, although it may take a bit longer to handle the issue surrounding the mobile phone use. Mobile phone issue needs to be approved by the North Korean military.
If the two sides see eye to eye on these areas, they may be able to sign affiliated agreements when the joint management committee meets next Monday. Affiliated agreements can force the North to implement what it already promised to do in the past.
Officials engaged in talks have hinted that compared with the past, the North seems more willing to listen to proposals. This may be due to the possibility that an agreement in Kaesong can affect upcoming talks to reopen the Mount Kumgang resort to tourism.
Seoul has called for talks to take place on Oct. 2 to discuss possibly resuming South Korean tours to the scenic mountain resort in North Korea that have been suspended since July 2008. The suspension followed the shooting death of a South Korean tourist by a North Korean guard.

[MANNAM Peace; Man Hee Lee Peace Leader] China proposes holding informal six-party meeting on N. Korea

China proposes holding informal six-party meeting on N. Korea

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Yonhap) -- China has proposed holding an informal meeting this month with senior officials from six nations involving the long-stalled negotiations aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear weapons program, a diplomatic source said Thursday.
The proposal was made in August before China's chief nuclear envoy, Wu Dawei, held talks in Pyongyang last week with his North Korean counterpart, Kim Kye-gwan, the source said on the condition of anonymity, in another indication Beijing is stepping up its efforts to re-start the six-party talks.
Organized by the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), affiliated with China's foreign ministry, the proposed date of Sept. 18 for the so-called Track 1.5 meeting in Beijing coincides with the eighth anniversary of a 2005 agreement when the six nations achieved their first breakthrough in resolving the North's nuclear standoff during the multilateral dialogue.
"The Chinese side offered a Track 1.5 meeting with senior diplomats from the six-party member states, including North Korea in the wake of the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 19 Joint Declaration," the source said, referring to the 2005 agreement.
China's foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei confirmed that the CIIS will "hold a seminar on Sept. 18 to review the past course of the six-party talks."
During a regular press briefing on Thursday, Hong said the Beijing seminar was organized to "celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 19 Joint Declaration as well as the 10th anniversary of the six-party talks." He declined to say who would join the meeting.
During the talks between Wu and Kim in Pyongyang, North Korea agreed to send its nuclear envoy, Ri Yong-ho, to the proposed meeting, according to the source.
China has also asked South Korea, the U.S. and Japan to send their chief nuclear negotiators to the informal six-party talks, but the three nations were cold to the Chinese proposal because North Korea has shown no signs of giving up its nuclear ambitions, the source said.
"It is uncertain whether South Korea, the U.S. and Japan would send their chief nuclear envoys to the proposed meeting in Beijing," the source said.
"At stake is whether North Korea would change its stance on denuclearization, but there are no such signs," the source said. "Under the circumstance, it is difficult for the Chinese efforts to make a significant achievement."
Hong, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman, urged nations to resume the six-party talks.
"The six-party talks remain an important platform for the realization of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and also an important mechanism for the improvement of relations between relevant parties," Hong said.
"We hope that our relevant parties will stick to the six-party talks and solve relevant issues through dialogue," Hong said.
North Korea, which has conducted three nuclear tests since 2006, walked out of the six-party talks that also involve South Korea, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia in early 2009. Following its third nuclear test in February this year, Pyongyang has said its nuclear program is not negotiable.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula, however, have been eased in recent months as North Korea has reached out to Seoul and Washington, expressing its willingness to rejoin the six-party talks.
South Korea, the U.S. and Japan have called on North Korea to demonstrate its seriousness about denuclearizing through concrete action as a precondition to resuming the six-party dialogue with them.
North Korea has expressed its willingness to rejoin the six-party talks but has shown no signs of accepting such conditions set by Seoul and Washington. Instead, North Korea has insisted on being recognized as a nuclear power.

Beijing has had several rounds of talks with Russia, South and North Korea, Japan, and the United States.
Beijing has also hosted several rounds of six-party talks aimed at convincing North Korea to give up its nuclear programs.
However, Formal six-way talks concerning North Korea's nuclear weapons development, hosted by China, have been stalled since last November.
South Korea, China, Russia and Japan have also been calling on North Korea to re-join the six-nation talks.
Jiang said China will continue efforts to boost the six-party talks and strive for the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula.
I wish that peace come to us as soon as possible.
Already MANNAM Volunteer association work for the world peace with International peace youth group.
